Southern Pecan Pie

A classic Southern pie with pecan halves over a sweet corn syrup filling that glazes as it bakes.

Ingredients

Type a number or fraction (for example 0.5, 2 or 1/2) and the amounts recalculate.

  • 1pastry for 9" pie shell
  • 1 cuppecan halves
  • 3eggs
  • 1 tablespoonbuttermelted
  • 1 cuplight corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoonvanilla
  • 1 cupsugar
  • 1 tablespoonflour

Instructions

  1. Arrange the pecan halves in the bottom of the pie shell.
  2. Beat the eggs, add the butter, corn syrup and vanilla, and stir until well blended.
  3. Combine the sugar and flour and blend into the egg mixture.
  4. Pour over the nuts and let stand until the nuts rise to the surface.
  5. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F for 45 minutes; the nuts will glaze during baking.
