Julieta's Plum Pudding

A festive plum pudding made from ground hamburger buns, fruit and nuts, steamed in a bain-marie and decorated with sugar and cherries.

Ingredients

Type a number or fraction (for example 0.5, 2 or 1/2) and the amounts recalculate.

  • 8hamburger buns, ground
  • 1 1/2 cupsmilk
  • 2 cupssugar
  • 6eggs
  • 1 teaspoonbaking soda
  • 2limes, zested
  • 1 cupraisins
  • 2small glasses of sweet wine
  • 1small box of chopped prunes
  • 1 cupchopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cupburnt sugar caramel
  • 1 cupcandied fruit

Instructions

  1. Mix the buns, the milk and the sugar.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time and finally the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased but unfloured bundt mould.
  4. Bake at 350° top and bottom, in a bain-marie and covered with aluminium foil, for 2½ hours. It can also be cooked in a pressure cooker for 1½ hours.
  5. Decorate with icing sugar and cherries.

Notes and variations

  • The "dulce quemado" is burnt-sugar caramel that gives the pudding colour and flavour.
