Tres Leches Cake
Sponge cake soaked in a thick cream of condensed milk and milk, topped with meringue and browned in the oven.

Ingredients
Type a number or fraction (for example 0.5, 2 or 1/2) and the amounts recalculate.
- 1sponge cake
- 1 cupcondensed milk
- 1/2 cupcream
- 2 cupsmilk
- 1/3 cupcornstarchdissolved in 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cupcornstarch
- 3egg whites
- 3egg yolks
- 1/4 cupsugar
Instructions
- Line a heatproof dish with the sponge cake and set it aside.
- For the cream, mix the condensed milk, the milk and the cornstarch.
- Cook on high for 8 to 10 minutes until the mixture boils and thickens.
- Add some of the hot cream over the beaten yolks and return them to the rest of the hot mixture.
- Pour the cream over the sponge cake.
- Separately, beat the egg whites to stiff peaks with the sugar and place them over the cream.
- Bake or microwave for 5 minutes until the cake browns.
