Apple Rings with Ice Cream

Apple rings in a beer tempura, fried until crisp, dusted with sugar and served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Type a number or fraction (for example 0.5, 2 or 1/2) and the amounts recalculate.

  • 4large apples
  • lemon juicefor brushing
  • rum or Grand Marnierfor brushing
  • icing sugarfor dusting
  • 1 1/2 cupsflour
  • 2eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoonsalt
  • 1 cupbeer

Instructions

  1. Peel, core and cut the apples into rings one centimeter thick.
  2. Brush them with lemon so they do not oxidize, then sugar, ground cinnamon and rum on both sides.
  3. Make the tempura with the flour, salt, egg yolks and beer. Beat the egg whites to stiff peaks and fold them in.
  4. Drain the excess liquid from the apples and coat each ring in the batter.
  5. Fry for approximately 40 seconds on each side.
  6. Remove and place on absorbent paper.
  7. Dust with icing sugar and serve immediately with vanilla ice cream.
