Sandwiches in Mushroom Sauce

Layers of sliced bread, ham and yellow cheese bathed in a mushroom sauce with onion and bell pepper, baked au gratin with parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

Type a number or fraction (for example 0.5, 2 or 1/2) and the amounts recalculate.

  • 1package of sliced bread
  • 1/2 poundham
  • 1 poundyellow cheese
  • 1 1/2packets of cream of mushroom
  • 1white onion
  • 1/2bell pepper
  • parmesan cheeseto taste
  • 1 lmilk
  • butter

Instructions

  1. Boil the milk with the half packet of cream of mushroom.
  2. Separately, sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper.
  3. Cut off the crusts of the sliced bread, spread them with butter, and place them in a greased oven-safe dish.
  4. Cut the ham and cheese to the size of the bread slices; chop any leftover strips into small cubes and add them to the milk in which the cream of mushroom packet was dissolved.
  5. Make layers: one of bread, one of ham, one of cheese, and bread on top. Cover with bread.
  6. On top, bathe with the mushroom sauce, which already has the bits of ham and cheese, the chopped onion and the bell pepper.
  7. Over the sauce sprinkle parmesan cheese and small bits of butter.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for about half an hour, until golden and bubbly.
